Vogue Italia is committed to support excellence in photography. In April 2011, it therefore created Photo Vogue: this is a section of the Vogue.it website designed to promote the work of photographers (professional and amateur) from all round the world. The way it works is very simple. Anyone can upload their photos, but before they’re published they have to be approved by the Vogue.it editorial team under the supervision of Alessia Glaviano, Photo Editor for Vogue Italia and L'Uomo Vogue. Photo Vogue now includes the work of more then 55,000 photographers. There’s also an online platform cementing the partnership between Photo Vogue and Art+Commerce, the prestigious international photography agency that represents some of the greatest international photographers – including Vogue Italia contributors Steven Meisel, Craig McDean, Sølve Sundsbø, Tim Walker and Paolo Roversi. The Photo Vogue collection housed by Art + Commerce is a library of copyright-protected images and contains the photos published in Photo Vogue. It’s an initiative that guarantees that Photo Vogue photographers will be able to increase their visibility and possibilities.

This second edition of "A glimpse at Photo Vogue" at Galleria Carla Sozzani is conceived as a natural evolution from last year’s project: therefore there will be exhibited 25 artists each with 4 images in order to allow a more in-depth acquaintance with their work.

The photographers chosen are an evidence of the multi-faceted nature of Photo Vogue, a platform that since the very beginning, is open to all forms of photography, from reportage to still life, fashion and architecture: for instance, the poignant and contradictory portraits of Syrian women taking up a gun by the recently awarded World Press Photo winner Sebastiano Tomada Piccolomini sit side by side next to the dreamy and Victorian-inspired atmosphere of Paulina Otylie’s works, Kate Scott’s macro still life photographs, the fairy-tale world of Kirsty Mitchell, the lofty creations of Loreen Hinz, the elegant and rigorous architecture of Fabio Vittorelli to the street photography genre represented by Toru Tanaka, the unconventional portrayals of Billy Kidd and the conceptual ones by Anna di Prospero.
