Oisin Roche was born in Dublin in 1973. He studied painting at the Dun Laoghire College of Art and Design (now the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design & Technology) from 1989 to 1991. His first solo exhibition was with the Guinness Gallery Foxrock in 1992 and he has had several one man exhibitions of his paintings since, the last being with Adams Auctioneers, Dublin 2010. "The main aim of my work is to do with paint itself, I want to be able to interpret a subject with the most economical of brush strokes and make the use of paint be the most important thing. The hardest thing to do in painting is to block in your subject and see things simply without the careful and insecure use of small brushes. I hope that my painting will eventually go beyond banal narrative and progress in the painterly vein of Franz Hals and John Singer Sargeant. My goal is to make my work closer to reality than reality itself." - Oisin Roche

Michael Kidd was born in London in 1937. He studied at Wimbledon School of Art where he gained a scholarship to the Royal College of Arts. Fellow art students included the film director Ridley Scott and artist David Hockney. After leaving the Royal College of Art Kidd worked as an art director in some of London's leading advertising agencies before moving the USA. Michael Kidd says he tends to 'think in terms of numbers'. He is facinated by 'patterns and mathematics, the poetry of the indecipherable'. Kidd's modern art shows his characteristic pleasure with what he calls 'playing with different perpectives - giving the illusion of the reality, and keeping it simple'.

Graeme Wilcox attended Glasgow School of Art 1989 - 93 and graduated with a BA (Hons). The Medici Gallery has exhibited Graeme's paintings for the past twelve years and during this time he has become one of the gallery’s leading figurative painters. Since graduating, Graeme has been working in the WASPS studios in the East End of Glasgow. His work, technically traditional, has a powerful contemporary feel, depicting underlying tensions between animation and stillness. He is able to portray the transient, blurred image of one moving figure and at the same time, engage in precise photographic representation of another.

Bill Bate was born in Liverpool in 1962 and having shown an interest in painting from an early age, he went on to study at the prestigious Central Saint Martins School of Art in London, where he gained his fine art degree . It was here that he developed the knowledge and understanding of his practice. It was also here that he was encouraged to develop a more abstract style that can be seen in his work today. His atmospheric paintings focus both on the uses of dramatic lighting and above all on the human form and are emotional responses to the body in movement, at rest, and the body observed. Bate's work has a broad range of influences from Caravaggio to Alma Tadema and Rothko.

Michael Bennallack Hart's work is prized by collectors for its evocation of atmosphere, mastery of composition and strong feelings of romanticism. He follows in the tradition of the Romantic landscape painters of the nineteenth century, but with a contemporary and original sense of arrangement, quality and approach. Michael began his career designing and illustrating film posters and record sleeves, and painting landscapes and sports scenes. In the '70s and '80s he worked as an advertising art director and illustrator, whilst continuing to paint and exhibited in New York. His work is held in private, public and corporate collections around the world.

Stephen Mitchell was born and brought up in Cornwall in the 1970s and he has had a keen interest in art for as long as he can remember. After realising as a child that this was the one subject about which he was truly passionate, he decided to pursue a career in art and studied Illustration at the Southampton Institute of Arts. It was here that his painting style began to emerge. The techniques and muted tones of Degas and Walter Sickert were a major influence and have remained within his work ever since.

Elaine Pamphilon works by taking mental notes about colour, shapes, lines and textures whilst out walking. She is drawn to the haphazard nature of the countryside and seaside, and from man's intervention and marks on the landscape.

Dean Patman lives and works in Hove, East Sussex. He initially studied scientific illustration, but then decided that he needed a more creatively challenging outlet and joined the Graphic Design course at Central St Martins, graduating in 1998. It was at St Martins that he first worked with recycled materials, and through a 'one off' project, he found that he enjoyed creating animals from found objects so much, that he has continued to do this ever since.
