This winter, London’s most daring and visionary commissioners of contemporary artists, Jules Wright, will join forces with Mallett, one of the oldest antiques dealers in the United Kingdom.

From November 27th until 21st December, Mallett and Jules Wright of Wapping Bankside and The Wapping Project will unveil Opening the Shutters, an exhibition of carefully curated work by a selection of photographers including Paolo Roversi, Mitra Tabrizian, Thomas Zanon-Larcher, Edgar Martins, Elina Brotherus, Jacqueline Hassink and Peter Marlow.

The temporary display of contemporary photography will be housed within the magnificent 18th century London townhouse, Ely House on Dover Street, currently home to Mallett and is the former London palace of the Bishop of Ely, built in 1772. The resplendent interiors and distinguished history of the building provide the perfect backdrop and salon environment to Mallet’s antique furniture and objets d’art juxtaposed with striking modern artwork from a roster of photographer represented by The Wapping Project Bankside.

Jules Wright says “Mallett has always been forward thinking. In 2008 I staged the launch of META in Milan and New York. META is a contemporary design company established by Mallett to continue their tradition of exquisite, craftsmanship and applied by a group of young international furniture designers Mallett's directors had commissioned. Opening the Shutters continues this bold approach, juxtaposing the very best contemporary photographers, an international group, and the finest 18th century furniture in one of the most beautiful domestic buildings in London. In this, together, we intend to capture how people live now.”
