Curiosity Killed The Cat

Ricart Gallery’s latest exhibition is a seductive boundary pushing exploration of sex, fame, and curiosity including works by renowned photographers Tiziano Magni & Carter B. Smith opening Saturday, February 8th from 6-10pm.

The exhibition “Curiosity Killed the Cat” is a collaboration of photography, live dance, and film including famous photographs of Kate Moss, Elle Macpherson, Laetitia Casta by fashion and fine art photographer Tiziano Magni. Carter B. Smith will exhibit his most provocative images and a Curiosity Booth with a live dancer to evoke inquisitiveness.

“Curiosity Killed The Cat" is a personal exploration navigating through this hyper-accelerated reality fueled by fame, sex, decimated nature, curious geometries and getting lost in the frivolity of it all,” according to Smith.

Tiziano Magni
For more than twenty years photographer Tiziano Magni has been shooting some of the most well known supermodels for spreads in the top glossies and high profile ad campaigns for prestigious fashion, beauty, and automotive clients. Magni is the lensman responsible for the famous Kate Moss and Mark Wahlberg for Calvin Klein from the 90s. Born in Italy in 1953, Magni started taking pictures at the age of twelve. At fourteen he bought his first photography tome, Sam Haskins' iconic Cowboy Kate, and at twenty-one began shooting for Italian Vogue. www.tizianomagni.com

Carter B. Smith
Carter B. Smith is one of today’s most relevant photographers and directors in New York City. He has published two books, “It Takes a Nation” (2006) with a forward by Barack Obama and “Phonebook”, the first all mobile phone picture and text message book (2011). He has directed music videos and photographed many of today’s leading artists, including Richie Hawtin, Iggy Pop, Mary J. Blige, Shooter Jennings, Snoop Dogg, Rene Lopez, The Roots, Jane’s Addiction, Bush, 311, Fishbone, Stone Temple Pilots, Wycleff Jean, NERD, Puya, Buckcherry, Monstermagnet and various members of the Wu-Tang Clan. His work has also appeared in magazines such as Technikart, The New York Times, T Magazine, The Unlimited Magazine, Vaga, Spin, BlackBook, 28th Street, de Fisch, Untitled Magazine, Architect Magazine, Kult.

Ricart Gallery is a contemporary art gallery established by art enthusiasts Caroline Herail and Martial Ricart. Since opening its doors in 2008 in Miami’s Design District, it has been home to innovative, singular, and pioneering exhibitions across a variety of media and genres. Recently relocating to the Wynwood Arts District, the exhibition space provides an exciting new venue to view work by some of the most innovative and admired contemporary artists working today.
