Over the last thirty-five years the Chelsea-based Gagliardi Gallery has never been one to rest on its laurels or become complacent in pioneering the work of exceptional and diverse artists from across the globe. To this effect, from 1st to 15th July the Gallery will mount its next exhibition featuring the works of Florence-born artist, Daniela Grifoni.

Raised within an artistic family and studying under Osvaldo Provvidone, Grifoni exhibits internationally, most recently at the Art Museum of Chianciano (Tuscany) in both the Biennale and Chianciano International Awards; also in the Visconti Palace, Milan and the Biennale in Lecce and Ferrara as well as the London Art Biennale in January 2013, in which she won a special mention for artistic merit. This is one of many awards she has received including the Estoril Cross and becoming an Honorary Academician of the Senate.

Grifoni is a maestro of abstract expressionism, using her unique and enigmatic mix of paint, which she calls 'Magmatismo', to create a fluid, volcanic lavaesque, sculptural form in a wealth of colours; always to breathtaking effect. Gagliardi has commissioned some larger canvases (150 x 150cm) than previously seen in London, on which Grifoni has produced work of monumental power, leading the layman and the professional artist alike to marvel at her wholly original and erudite technique and the depth and intelligence of her creativity. Her works are intensely emotional and dramatic but never exclude the viewer; and the longer one gazes at these pieces the more one discovers and becomes subsumed in their form and their commentary.

For some years Grifoni has maintained a close working relationship with the Gagliardi Gallery, which has become synonymous with quality and diversity, exhibiting a comprehensive collection of sculpture and painting, characterised by its variety and reasonable pricing; serving many collectors, ranging from Princes, Sheiks and businessmen, to young couples starting their art collection.

Grifoni's work has also been exhibited or remains in the permanent collections of The National Gallery, Washington and leading institutions in North Carolina, Virginia, Miami, Florida, Tokyo, France, Italy and Portugal.
