Erskine, Hall & Coe is featuring its first Hans Coper, Ruth Duckworth & Lucie Rie show in September.

Hans Coper, Ruth Duckworth and Lucie Rie were refugees who had travelled from Continental Europe and settled in Britain in the late 1930’s. They each established studios and worked in London. Duckworth stayed until 1968, whilst Coper and Rie were to remain there for the remainder of their lives.

All three artists knew each other and were familiar with each others’ work. Some of the items in this exhibition were made during the time that their careers overlapped in Britain.

Their work is owned by many prominent collections worldwide, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Sainsbury Collection, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Tokyo, the Smithsonian Institution of American Art, Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Art Institute of Chicago.
