Always faithful to its cultural vocation and mission, MAG of Como presents to the audience a bipersonal exhibition from Tuscan.

Two artists technically opposites but close for the territorial belonging.

Maximo Pellegrinetti, born in Viareggio in 1960, and Ivo Lombardi, born in Livorno in 1936, will see their artworks juxtaposed in a silence and enigmatic dialogue in a universe of parallel languages. The marble sculpture of Pellegrinetti thins to become “picture” to hang on the wall, while the paintings approach Dadaist and abstract by Lombardi, gain the three-dimensional through multiple full-bodied materials.

Maximo Pellegrinetti, currently Director of the Department of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, prefers the use of marble for his works, creating narrow surfaces, on which he carves a mark engraved and deep. Lines chromatically attractive, expression of an imaginary alphabet, unknow and mysterious, that bring the viewer to question on its shape, sensing the feelings and emotions of the artist only through signs seemingly indecipherable. Boundaries, in the guise of arcane images, that bring to a suspensed world of silence and contemplation.

In the work of Ivo Lombardi, the predictability of the vision is impaired by a simultaneity of systems that become slick with other systems, sets that merge and widen, presences that emerge in an unusual stubborn.

Abstract realities in the sign of a pictorial material strong and tangible. His artworks, profane and appealing, protective and deceptive, seem exuding different emotions of a time that is impossible to distinguish in past, present and future.

The leather, that remember the natural material and the beginnings of mankind, becomes pure representation and imposing, get stage space causing the mind to cross and recross the places of ancestral memory.

Borders to be crossed with a look, in a movement of visual navigation in search of points to anchor to.

Vital maps of pigments that dig in the personal memory of the viewer, bringing him to a reality that must be discovered. A pleasant unfolding of feelings that look out of the canvas, evoking sudden paths illuminated by blue or leather items. Two realities, those of Pellegrinetti and Lombardi, similar in intention but distant because of modus operandi. The first one want bring us in this silent earth of contemplation through the simplicity of the material and of the artistic gesture; the other one through the strength of the material and existential painting, represents a proliferating and ethereal relationship, where painting, sculpture and storytelling come together, creating a universe of territories, archaisms, dreams and impulses.
Artworks that need to be observed out of the schemes of the daily frenzy, but needing a look willing to an inner pacification.

Artworks to feel, to perceive with the soul.
