Ben Oakley Gallery is proud to welcome two accomplished painters, Ray Richardson and Guy Denning, in the show The Dog & Crow.

The title came easily as Ray is well known for his English Bull Terriers & Guy for his Crows; these figures are just a scratch on the surface of work these two prolific figurative oil painters have produced over the years with work in public collections around the globe.

The artists met after being introduced in a show called ‘Artists on Artist’s (they painted each other) and the result was immediate with both paintings selling straight away and the born of a great friendship.

Since that show Ben Oakley Gallery has been trying to find a convenient time for both artists to do a two men show in Greenwich.

Ray Richardson’s paintings are more than just a mirror of everyday life. There is a cinematic quality, vitality and drama in his artworks that helps to explain why Richardson has been dubbed in the media as the Martin Scorsese of figurative painting.

The human figure features strongly in Guy Denning’s paintings and he uses this subject matter to convey powerful emotions, often with political overtones. He uses not only powerful brush strokes to express his emotions deeply but also scratches the paint to show the audience the intensity of the emotions he is trying to portray like the darkness, horror and maybe even despair.

The Dog & Crow will be a one-time opportunity to see and admire these two amazing artists in a unique show. On display will be a striking collection of new paintings created especially for this occasion.

To record the show an exclusive collaboration screenprint is produced to mark this specific time in the career of both artists.
