As a form of respect to the life and work of Günther Förg, who sadly passed away on December 5th, 2013, Massimo De Carlo has postponed the scheduled exhibition of bronze work by the German artist combined with terracotta works by Lucio Fontana.

Massimo De Carlo is instead presenting Snow Variation, a group show that brings together works by John Armleder, Alighiero Boetti, Enrico Castellani, Dan Colen, Dadamaino, Lucio Fontana, Sol LeWitt, Piero Manzoni, and Paolo Scheggi.

The four monochrome white paintings by Dadamaino, Lucio Fontana, Paolo Scheggi, and Piero Manzoni are juxtaposed with a large dark work by Sol LeWitt: their harmony matches the structure of the American minimalist artist while it accentuates their diverse conceptual background. The second room focuses on the colourful exuberance of the festive season: the visual shine of John Armleder’s Untitled, 2008, and Between Here and Eternity, 2013, by Dan Colen set a kaleidoscopic dialogue with a monumental tapestry by Alighiero Boetti. Boetti’s Alternando da uno a cento e viceversa, 1993 (Alternating one to one hundred and vice versa) is composed by 50 kilims, each of them formed by 100 squares. These geometrical patterns were designed by 30 French students of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts Paris, assembled on a preparatory cardboard in the artist studio in Rome, and finally sent to Peshawar, in Pakistan, to be transformed into a unique carpet by Afghan traditional weavers.
