Beginning October 12th, Christopher-Clark Fine Art will be featuring masterworks of French poster design in their exhibition The Art of La Belle Époque. With such luminaries as Toulouse-Lautrec, Jules Cheret Alphonse Mucha and Theophile Steinlen, the show will include many of the finest original posters ever created.

These colorful and evocative images transformed Parisian streets at the close of the 19th century and became highly collectible as a new art form. From Lautrec’s bold and brilliant style, to the more elegant and sensual designs of Cheret and Mucha, these delightful images truly defined the era.

During the same period, there emerged a new breed of artists who approached printmaking from a painter’s perspective. Among them were great talents including James Tissot, whose superbly detailed etchings have rarely been equaled, Louis Legrand, with his charming images of the ballet and café society, and Manuel Robbe’s painterly aquatints and etchings.

The exhibition will offer a fresh glimpse into a time in which French society and the arts were energized with a powerful current of change.
