Our next show at the Galo Art Gallery will present Ufocinque and Will Barras.

The exhibition titled Bermuda Shorts Forrest includes new art works by both artists along with several site-specific installations throughout the gallery. These two artists have their own unique styles, both have very different techniques, yet their work shares a pleasant and mysterious quality.

Will Barras has a background in illustration and animation, his paintings are full of mystery and movement, with forms and characters created by colors and shapes flowing through each other in a natural way. Will has been a globe trotter since the early days of street art, doing walls and shows in Asia, the United States and Europe since the beginning of the century.

Ufocinque is continuously searching for new techniques, materials and solutions for his art works. His installations, made from layers of hand cut paper, allow him to create entirely new environments to fit the structure or space he is working in. His light-box installations are a reflection of his larger installations that have been used in theater, fashion shows and window displays for shops. The light boxes are made up of carefully dissected layers of hand cut paper that focus and draw your attention to the power of shadow and light reflecting though the boxes.

The inauguration will be held on the 8th of February 2014 at the Galo Art Gallery from 17:30 till 21:00.

To learn more about these two artists check out their biography's below:

Matteo Capobianco, aka Ufocinque, was born in Novara in 1981. He has been an active protagonist in the Italian graffiti and after street art scene since 1994, with many interventions in abandoned spaces such as factories and farms. After graduating in industrial design at the Politecnico of Milan, he began his artistic process of the fusion between art and design projects. This process opens a new door for Ufocinque and leads him to the theater and stage design, where he creates elements of scenery for the opera. His stage designs require a constant search for new technical solutions and materials that are among all the hand cut paper. His process of cutting and creating forms allows him to set up entire rooms and create different ambient with in them, making the shadow and light the co-protagonist of the (art)work.

Since 2007 he has completed numerous installations in the art scene as well as personal exhibitions in galleries and not to mention fashion shows, showrooms and events. His main focus is the theme of "layer" which is used to make a variety of levels in which the interpretation of traditional painting techniques come together in the unity of the personal project. The " form" is never detached from the "function", but they support each other to create a dreamlike suspended world.

Will Barras is an artist, illustrator and animation director living and working in London. He grew up in Birmingham and moved to Bristol to study graphic design. Will became one of a new crop of young artists working within Bristol's world renowned street art scene. This led to Will appearing in the book 'Scrawl',and becoming a founding member of the Scrawl collective. 'Scrawl' originally published in 1999 was a seminal book documenting a new movement in street art, graphics and illustration.

He was chosen as one of the original artists for the collective, noted for his representations of fluid movement, unique narrative driven composition and line work. This has led Will to travel extensively, painting and exhibiting his paintings in Asia, throughout Europe and the U.S. "There is a fluidity and energy in Will's work that, although constantly changing, has always existed in a world entirely of his own making. His figures appear to be in a state of perpetual metamorphosis - caught for a brief moment between one manifestation and the next. always at the mercy of the swirling forces that surround them. From his early scanned and reworked doodles through to his recent, rich, mixed media work. Will has mastered every medium with a dynamism constant in all his work."
